Description: FAIRVIEW, Ky. – This year marks the sesquicentennial of the Civil War. The Jefferson Davis State Historic Site will mark this event with the 207th Birthday Commemoration of Jefferson Davis, first and only president of the Confederate States of America.

The park will have food; two battle re-enactments; re-enactors representing Civil War figures; a pageant; a Civil War flag display; a featured speaker, Teresa Roane of Richmond, Virginia; and book signings.

All events are free, except for monument and museum tours. The cost for the tours is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and military personnel, and $6 for children 5-12. Children 4 and under are free. For more information, call 270-889-6100, or visit www.parks.ky.gov.

Jefferson Davis State Historic Site is a memorial to the famous Kentuckian born on this site on June 3, 1808. Jefferson Davis was a U.S. congressman, senator, and secretary of war, and was a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy. Jefferson Davis State Historic Site is located just off Highway 68/80 in Fairview.
